If your tastes are too rich, but your pocketbook (financial means) are too poor to pay for them, it is said that you have “champagne tastes on a beer pocketbook.” Trump is plundering the Republican National Committee’s nest egg of donations intended for him and all down-ballot Republicans. Trump wants it all — which leaves his party in a lurch. He will do almost nothing for his party or for other candidates. Instead, he’s milking every dime he can from his innocent dupes, both in office and in the general public.

Now I want you to take note of something extremely important. It’s called a double bind! Donald Trump will never spend one dime of his own money on his campaigns. He instead exhorts personal donations to him, not to his campaign, based on drama and lies. God knows how he’ll document personal vs. campaign donations to himself on paper without violating laws?

Because he will go to prison, however briefly, if he violates gag orders, Trump can no longer resound his invective when he is out of court, attacking everything about the justice system and the unfairness of the cases he’s in.

That means his donations are often just enough to cover his lawyers and judgments, little money left for campaigning. Furthermore, he’s in court most of the time, so he only campaigns a fraction of the length of time he’d like to.
