Now it looks to me like Nikki Haley will not be on the Republican ticket. Trump and Elise Stefanik (as his VP) will be. When MAGA is soundly beaten, Nikki Haley will emerge as the Republicans best hope. 2028? She must be driven by (acceptable) policy. Being anti-Trump is not enough. Part of her party must die so the rest can live. We need two real parties, not one party on one side vs. two half-parties at odds with each other on the other side.

Republican is: balanced budgets; spending restraint; only as much tax as required; a strong national defense; a minimum of regulation, necessary regulation; the government not interfering with personal rights; the states taking on more responsibility rather than big government. Doing these could get the newest Nikki Hales on some equivalent of Mt. Rushmore in times that try men’s souls and strong guidance and vision are required — not empty-headed partisan politics.

By building a better mousetrap with a strong spring, canny Republicans could catch many Democrats unawares — and a Lincolnesque Republicanism could survive.

Haley is on the wrong side of some huge issues. The biggest one is: She’d push and sign a national abortion ban? Abortion is a personal and medical issue, NOT a government issue.

We NEED millions of Legal immigrants, for demographic reasons: to pay taxes, build families, and eventually melt into our melting pot like ice balls under a summer sun. We need…
