Indicting a Ham Sandwich, and Other Errata.

There is curious equivalence between Bill Clinton confessing, “I did not have sex with that woman” (Monica Lewinsky), said during Clinton’s impeachment, and Donald Trump’s attempts to ditch his affair with stripper Stormy Daniels by having her paid off, via a shell company, less than two weeks before the 2016 General Election. He also had the National Enquirer quash a sex story by having its publisher pay Playboy model Karen McDougall $150,000 to “catch and kill” her story’s publication. I think he was much more worried about losing votes than losing Melania. At least 25 women have accused Trump of sexual misconduct since the 1970s, including one or two rapes.

The whole real issue is were the payoffs made in such as way as to comprise illegal accounting.

For one, Mr. Tax Man wants to know. He got Capone back in the day, remember?

It is said that any grand jury is so full of itself, it would indict a ham sandwich. Will Manhattan D.A. Melvin Bragg’s grand jury indict an actual ham sandwich, perhaps one pretending to be kosher? My observation is, Trump’s nether world is so full of slick grand larceny schemes and shell games — of moving money around — what makes anyone think Trump wasn’t pulling another fast one or two this time? Only the ham sandwich knows for sure.

The misdemeanors or felonies Bragg could charge Trump appear to be slim-to-none cases indeed, among the weakest cases we have ever seen. However, I believe that serious charges will emerge, at least two of them, resulting in a Trump jail sentence. Indulge me while I try to psychically intuit what is really going on. As follows:

“Watch Bragg show Trump who’s boss. Bragg acts as an accusing angel in the face of Trump’s threats and intimidation, resulting in death threats on Bragg and his family. Watch Bragg defeat Trump in court, where Trump is out of his wheelhouse, is about to go under. Value Bragg’s tenacity. I get “Can defeat Trump” with an array serious charges and jail time.

*****

Now allow me to make something else abundantly clear. The D.A. of Manhattan (not to mention N.Y.) has had Michael Cohen come in 23 times in all to testify. If you don’t understand Cohen you should. He’s a masterful fixer. He was Trump’s lawyer/fixer for 10 years until Trump dumped him to save his own skin. Now here’s what Paul Harvey would call “The rest of the story,” from factcheck.org:

“What possible charges Bragg may be considering is unknown, but people familiar with the investigation have told various news outlets that the investigation is related to allegations that Trump used corporate funds during the 2016 presidential campaign to pay porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about an alleged sexual encounter and failed to report the payment as a campaign donation.”

Here’s another clarifying paragraph from https://www.factcheck.org/2023/03/qa-on-grand-jury-investigation-of-trump-in-new-york/

“According to federal prosecutors who prosecuted Cohen, the $130,000 paid to Daniels was one of two payments totaling $280,000 Cohen “made to silence two women who otherwise planned to speak publicly about their alleged affairs with a presidential candidate, thereby intending to influence the 2016 presidential election.” Specifically, Daniels was paid $130,000 in exchange for signing a nondisclosure agreement that barred her from talking about her alleged sexual encounter with Trump.”

In fact, the whole story can be found in the above file I cited. Add, from the same source, “There is strong evidence that Trump’s conduct in the hush money payments involved federal campaign finance violations.”

Cohen is still a fixer. This time he is on a one-time mission to “fix” (drown!) Trump, once in for all. Trump had the DOJ go after Cohen, sentence him to three years of prison under horrible conditions, hoping he’d die — or at least stop talking. Now Cohen wants Trump’s ass. Cohen pretends it’s not personal, but it is! Cohen is addressing justice not only for himself but for the whole country. Cohen TAPED Trump, without Trump’s knowledge, during part of the chicanery above that included a paper trail. The DOJ seldom brings cases it cannot win. It dots every i and crosses every t before entering the courtroom. Its world-class prosecutors then put the defendant through a wringer, who maybe comes out flat — broke, in more ways than one — at some soup kitchen, begging for a ham sandwich!

I’ll add the following, which I got intuitively when I got up on 3/29: “Federal charges against Trump, referred to the feds — the grand jury’s findings — by Bragg’s grand jury. Bragg doesn’t prosecute Trump; the feds do. Federal court. The feds win their case(s). Paperwork crimes, cover up. Political donations masquerading as corporate write-offs. Jail time?: Yes. How long?: Two years. [Also:] “Trump is caught in his own Manhattan by its (New York County) D.A. Trump will be sentenced to jail. For whatever reason, he never enters any jail and he is not the Republicans’ candidate on 11/8/2024, the General Election. Trump drops out of sight, October or so.” See my next blog for what that means.

Love,

Gene.
