A friend wrote that Trump donated his entire salary to charities his entire years as president. I contested he only said he did but he did not. Look at his tax deductions and the years of none. And I also rebutted:

It is not a violation of law to pretend you donated your salary but didn’t. Rather, it is a violation of public trust. We accept, but should not, politicians who “lack all integrity.” One should not want, in a position of public trust, a man who cheats on his wife, or on his taxes, or cheats in business (defrauds), etc. These are all people who betray public trust, transparency, and Biblical moral values. Putting any or all such men on a pedestal, just because they talk a good game, amounts to citizens selling out, allowing themselves to be bamboozled, etc. The only thing worse than a bad politician, and a worse one, and even “worser” ones, etc., ad infinitum, is to encounter the worst one of them of all, of all the worse/worser politicians in America’s historical experience as a democratic republic. Yes, the WORST one of them all was/is DJT. And I’m certainly not apologizing for Biden. I am quite acquainted with his ingrained faults regarding falsehoods and plagiarism, the illegal and inappropriate links regarding him/his family and his son in Ukraine, his mishandling of privileged info, etc. But compared to Trump, he is a saint! As for Trump, his days in court are only as far away as his shadow! It has all caught up with him! At some point, in 2023. Trump will be swept under the rug and the nation can move on. Biden, also, is unelectable. I say Pence is our next pres. He has integrity, party faithfulness, and constitutional “adequacy.” He will also receive a “sympathy” vote from Republicans and independents wishing to move the GOP beyond Trump tarnish (and away from Biden) and back to that party’s traditional agenda of limited government. But the Republican party needs to reinvent itself. It has strayed far from its roots and mission, the party of Lincoln.

Here’s where the Republican Party should be, what Republican values should be: (1) tax less, (2) spend less, (3) regulate less, (4) balance the budget (forgotten about long ago!), (5) question foreign interventionism and foreign alliances, (6) avoid war and any international arms trade and use at almost all cost, (7) promote American energy, (8) protect family, patriotic, and Christian values (but at the cost of freedom?!), and: (9) draft House bills one at a time, not unread omnibus bills full of pork, waste, and haste, both parties! Add: (10) “Made in America!” (almost forgotten about for decades), and (11) let’s pay back our national debt, doing so quickly rather than slowly!

Love,

Gene W. Edwards.
