I came across more info regarding the case.

What I read is that he must have been in one accident too many! He was born with a congenital back condition. In Hawaii, in co-op housing near Waikiki, he was operated on again and is full of wire, pins, spinal fused vertebra, etc. He told his male roommate in Hawaii he could not have sex (with women) anymore. The operation allegedly cost $250,000! His HMO tried to nickel and dime him? His mother did not see or hear from him since last August. MELT DOWN! She even reported him as a missing person. What he did was both a private and public statement. Unhappy guy! I think he felt there was nothing left for him, in pleasure, and he wanted to tell that to the world, and about how the medical establishment tried to dismiss him and thereby just made everything even worse.

A close friend of mine caught MRSA, the flesh-eating viral infection, a few years ago. First, the banking/mortgage crisis of 2008 almost wiped out his ample holdings. Next, in his life cycle, he caught the flesh-eating disease six years ago, and a year ago they amputated one leg, where the disease had settled. Yet Steve L. didn’t get mad and go kill anyone, unlike the Luigi character. I’m sure Luigi Mangione felt his life had ended, and certainly much pleasure was gone from it, but a normal person would not lash out like that! Character defect: psychopath Luigi. His act screamed it, his judgmental irreverence for the life of another!
