McCarthy: Joe McCarthy “Condemned” Everyone; Kevin McCarthy, No One.
By Gene W. Edwards.
You haven’t seen my extensive turn-of-year predictions for 2023 because Facebook blocked it . . . but I predicted Kevin McCarthy will NOT be chosen by his party to be its Speaker of the House. In fact, I predict it will take the Republicans three weeks to choose another.
Why? Why wasn’t McCarthy at the assembly in Congress recently in which the Capitol Hill and Metropolitan Police Department were awarded a Congressional Medal for their policemen defending, with their lives, our country from tyrannical overthrow (a coup d’etat). Well, Kevin was home buttering his bread, or was it feathering his nest? Here’s the bottom line: like Trump, McCarthy puts personal power way out in front of personal integrity. He condemned the 1/6 insurrection — momentarily — but within one week he was down in Mar-a-Lago kissing you-know-who’s butt.
McCarthy could have condemned Trump, moved his party to impeach the man. McCarthy could have condemned House members who were in on the insurrection. He could also now condemn mega-scammer House member George Sandos — but first he needs his vote.
Instead, McCarthy “just wants 218 votes” to become speaker, just like Trump wanted 11,780 votes from Georgia’s Secretary of State, Raffensperger. McCarthy just needs 218 House Republicans to vote for him as their Speaker, not one vote less, to thereby also be third in line to our presidency. If Biden and Harris were both removed or gone, McCarthy would be president according to our Constitution.
As an observer, I deduce that McCarthy’s real goal, his big goal, is to become our president! McCarthy has everything: looks, success, ambition, charisma, and power — but . . .
In the same way cream rises to the top, Kevin McCarthy couldn’t care less about our country or the best welfare of the Republican Party. Rather, it is only his personal ambition that has risen him to the top. He will do, say, think, anything to hold his Republican delegation under his power — rather than ever consider integrity as something that matters at all.
*****
For all those reasons, I suggest to you that McCarthy is — in his way — as bad as Trump, and he needs to go. Unlike Trump, McCarthy has violated no law, but neither does he represent the nation. His only nation is the nation of Self.
Thus, one hopes the House Republicans can find a centrist in their number who has integrity more than an inch deep.
Love,
Gene W. Edwards.
