Playing House. By Gene W. Edwards. Posted 2/15/2024.
Had George Santos’s replacement, a Democrat just elected, had been in the House, Mayorkas would not have been impeached. Now three more House seats must be filled in special elections, Kevin McCarthy’s and two others. Let’s see what happens. Two of those rep’s districts are extremely Republican; the remaining one is Democrat.
As for the Ukraine/Israel/Taiwan bill passed by the Senate, can Mike Johnson or committees in the House block the bill from even coming to a vote? We’ll see, soon. For now, it doesn’t look like the House will even be offered the opportunity to vote on the bill. It’s dead in the water.
The House was 219 Republicans, 212 Democrats. Now it’s 219 Republicans, 213 Democrats. I’d like Colorado’s rep, Ken Buck, to just QUIT — like Kevin McCarthy did. A good rep who’s retiring. To send a message. It looks like, after special elections, the House will have 221 Republicans and 214 Democrats. That will be seven more Republicans than Democrats, not just two more, as reported. Mike Johnson can afford to lose three votes on any bill.
I originally predicted that NY would fine Trump by the 17th. Well, it’s the 15th now, and the word is the judge might announce Trump’s fine tomorrow.
The hush money case regarding Stormy Daniels is scheduled for March 25. It should last three weeks or so. The election interference case should be the next one on the docket after that.
