The Biggest Legal Case of Our Lifetime is Going on Right Now in Washington, D.C.! By Gene W. Edwards. Posted 1/9/2024.
Turn on your T.V. Watch! Trump’s lawyer, D (Dean) John Sauer, is defending Trump in the D.C. Court Appeals this very minute as to whether Trump had/has blanket immunity for “everything” that happened while he was in office.
Special Prosecutor Jack Smith’s entire two cases against Trump depends on how the appeals court rules and then, if on appeal, how the U.S. Supreme Court either declines the case or rules. When?
Smith is bringing Trump to two trials: Trump’s role in the (1) January 6 U.S. Capitol attack, and Trump’s (2) alleged mishandling of government records, including classified documents [see “Jack Smith,” Wikipedia].
The capitol attack trial is scheduled to commence on March 4, and the government records case on May 20. Trump’s legal team with try to delay both trials.
If Trump loses one or both of those trials, it looks like he’s banking on pardoning himself for all past federal crimes the day he could take office again, 1/20/2025! — but if it is ruled that Trump lacks presidential immunity, those two trials are more likely to commence on schedule, or at least both commence and/or conclude before the General Election on 11/5/2024.
