Around Tuesday last week, I predicted Israel’s ground war would begin on Saturday, the Sabbath, which it did. Tanks started rolling into Gaza then. Here’s the big picture for now:

Israel must destroy “all” the tunnels in Gaza. They need to provide food, water, “warm clothing,” and medical help to all the non-combatants, and hopefully many of them will act as whistleblowers, point out Hamas and hostage locations. I believe I heard today that few, by percentage, of the buildings in Gaza have been hit. The shelling has been targeted on Hamas sanctuaries — to soften them up. After it’s over, Gazans need to move back in, sans Hamas. Endless Palestinian encampments are no solution. I want to see an open border between Israel and Gaza . . . and true equality! This may turn out to be a brief war via Israeli force of arms. The USA is keeping other parties out of the conflict (Lebanon and Iran). Watch friends of Israel come to its rescue. This is not THE big war, despite how it looks, not yet. The big war is coming, The USA saves Israel, with our four carriers, missiles, and 2,000 Marines at the ready. The war will be mostly over in 45 days. The fear of Israel is, Gaza has become a refuge of extremist dissent towards Israel. How address that within its population of 2.3 million people squeezed into 1,400 sq. miles . . . on one’s doorstep? High Israeli death toll in this war! Little cause for optimism. Little prospect of longer-term safety. USA negotiates peace while preventing a larger war at this time.
