Wag the Dog (?).

This is the ultimate cynical movie. Rather than it being believably written, like Breaking Bad, I didn’t believe a word of it from frame one! I didn’t like the actors, the writing (Mamet?!), or believe the story line — though we’ve had many psycho-political equivalents foisted on us in real life. Such manipulations do occur, but I clearly didn’t buy this movie’s denouement: Albania, etc. The real stuff is much more gripping and cynical beyond fiction. Example!: “Weapons of mass destruction.” You know who. I watched some 20 minutes of this movie from Netflix for a $3.99 rental and then gave up on it.

Trump’s net worth is now 2.5 billion ($2,500,500,000), according to the money mags, but I doubt it. Trump’s net worth numbers are impossible to verify, like almost anything else he says. It’s mostly golf courses, many partly owned, some bleeding red ink. In any case, the Saudis will bail him out. In truth, Trump is hardly liquid at all. He desperately wanted to build a Trump hotel in Moscow, but couldn’t find any backer, even to just have his name on it, a hotel built and managed by someone competent reaping most of the profits. That was the extent of his Russian collusion: wanting Putin’s good will. Blame Roger Stone and WikiLeaks for most of the other campaign indiscretions.

E. Jean Carroll will probably sue Trump for defamation again, and she might get 50 million this time. I looked at this legal issue. Trump, being Trump, will probably have a gag order put on him my Manhattan, and he could go to jail if he violates it, and the DOJ’s Jack Smith is almost ready to charge Trump with classified document stewardship felony violations. Other cases wait in the wings, in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Trump’s only lender, last lender, Deutsche Bank, deserted him some time ago, dumped his felon organization in NYC and his dizzying risk to any lender. At the end of the Trump book, with its jail sentences, fines, and all, the only Trump golf course may be a Trump Golf Chorus singing dirges for him.

Ron DeSantis, president of Florida and wannabe governor of the American Republican Theme Park, decided to throw his hat in the ring in a video on Twitter, but there were glitches and horrible viewership numbers, after which DeSantis (misnamed after saints, the holy: DeSantis) declared, “What kind of Mickey Mouse outfit is Elon Musk running, anyway?

Rather than attacking Disney in Florida, DeSantis, if he were as politically aware as a slug, should be kissing Mickey Mouse’s buttski and sending Minnie Mouse flowers from Mick.

DeSantis, wishing to take a leaf from Trump’s autocracy manual, has decided to come into the campaign and trump all the other candidates, but it turns out DeSantis’s trump card is only a 2, which he plays as a two. Every card player knows what a trump is, usually played as an ace on anything else. DeSantis’s hole card is a trump played as a two on Trump’s ace hand, Trump being at the top of his party. Yeah, it’s a party of one until Trump falls, which he will, this year. Watch. But don’t expect DeSantis to rise from the ashes. He already made an ash of himself and there’s no path upward.

I picked a date, June 9 (because it’ll take days from now, until then, to get back on track), as marking the end of the national disgrace of one party arguing we should not extend our national debt limit until Biden gives away the store! Anyway, it does now sound like the Biden administration is making many concessions to the Republicans. Is that true? Looks like it. First week of June.

My warning is, the two parties could go right down to the wire, in July, or to the even later point when all provisional money sources run out, before they can agree and pass the bill in both chambers of our Congress — on a date that’s into default! We’ll see.

As unlikely as it seems, productive arbitration is under way. All such takes time. The two parties are as far apart as the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is, in D.C., from the top of newly constructed One World Trade Center in NYC. Both sides are trying to claim the high ground, all this while our economy continues to falter from lack of cash.
